Founder and Conductor, Orchestra of the Canongait, Edinburgh, Scotland
What makes a great conductor? Difficult to define, but you know it when you see it. With Robert Dick, what you see is what you get: a classical music artist reminiscent of the world's historically great conductors. Robert is all business, knows the score, arrives well prepared, has a relaxed but complete rehearsal style, is easy to work with, and best of all, is fair to all musicians under his baton. He has no affectations, special requirements, wild hair or snappy head moves. Just purity in music: beautiful classical music performed as the great composers intended it to be. After all, isn't that what you really want to hear?

Robert has been conducting since he was 11 and was learning the orchestral repertoire by eight years of age. He considers it a privilege to be able to to have the opportunity to simplify classical music for the listener: and perform it exactly the way the composer wrote, nothing more, nothing less. The great composers had a vision, and their vision is his vision. He does not tamper with tempi, edit or interpret to appease his ego. He wants you to hear what they heard, what they wanted you to hear. The music is the important part. Fidelity to the music is his part. His mission is to be a living conduit to the great composers and their work. Robert conducts for them.
